Dr. Nathan Austin, DPT, MSCS

Dr. Nathan Austin graduated from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 2018. He received his B.A. in Psychology from Salisbury University in 2014 where he was a varsity Cross Country runner and Track & Field athlete. He became a Multiple Sclerosis Certified Specialist in Feb 2020.

During his graduate studies Nathan was an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and presented nationally on research for evidence-based community fall prevention programs for older adults. During his studies Nathan also gained experience treating people for orthopedic injuries, post-op surgical care, neurologic conditions, and cardiopulmonary conditions in both the acute care and outpatient settings.

Nathan treats patients with wide variety of neurologic disorders and has a special interest for helping patients with treatment and management of multiple sclerosis. He also has interests in treating orthopedic conditions of the spine, disorders of the foot/ankle, balance impairments, running injuries, and weight-lifting related injuries. He incorporates manual therapy such as joint mobilization, muscle energy technique, and soft tissue massage with prescriptive exercise to help maximize patients’ mobility and functional independence.

Nathan believes that helping people move better and feel better should be an individualized process targeted towards a patient’s goals, occupation, and lifestyle. Outside of the clinic Nathan enjoys running and hiking in the mountains, skiing, and traveling.

Nate joined Advanced Spine Physical Therapy in 2018.
